If a picture is worth a thousand words…how many is yours worth?
“The secret of achievement is to hold a picture of a successful outcome in the mind” ― Henry David Thoreau
Do you believe in the power of visualisation to achieve your goals? Do you ever take time out to visualise what success looks like to extent you can see it, feel it and taste it?
Research has shown is that being able to picture (visualise) what we want is powerful and strongly correlated to us achieving it. Visualisation has the power to connect with our unconscious mind through our optic nerves, and make the picture we have in our minds seem real.
The more we are able to clearly visualise our goals, the more real it becomes, and the more likely our goals become reality. See yourself as powerful and successful, and you start to act in that way, and your actions begin to mirror your thoughts
Consistently see yourself as being fit, healthy and lighter, and that starts to become your focus, and your actions begin to align with the picture you are painting until you become it.
Alternatively visualise the opposite of what you want i.e. having ice cream or lying in bed instead of eating healthy and exercising, and the picture and desire becomes stronger and stronger and that is what you end up doing.
In 2013 I wrote down my goal to write a book in 2014, I drew a picture in my mind and visualised the cover of the book until it became real in my mind and in the actions I took, before the end of 2014 it became a reality and I had a book launch. And in 2015, I have already completed the draft of my next book… the power of visualisation!
Suggested To-do:
- Go back to your ‘written’ goals, visualise what the outcomes will look like and create a vision board, mind map or draw a picture of the positive outcomes.
- Etch these images in your mind, reflect on them regularly (see it and live it) until it becomes your reality.
